Westford is
located on Routes 2 and 495 in northeastern Massachusetts, 23 miles
northwest of Boston.
With its
rolling hills, lakes and apple orchards, Westford is a very beautiful
town. Originally it was noted for its farms and woolen mills, but today
is mostly a bedroom community with an emphasis on high tech.
Westford is
one of the most rapidly expanding communities in the state. Once an
agricultural suburb of Lowell, Westford is experiencing a boom in both
industrial and residential development. Housing in Westford is more
expensive than in other Merrimack Valley communities, due in large part
to its proximity to the luxurious suburbs west of Boston.
The 350 acres
of the Nashoba Brook Area provide ample recreational opportunities for
cross country skiing, hiking, hunting, nature observing and
snowmobiling. The East Boston Camps offer camping, fresh water
swimming, and picnicking. At the Isabel F. Hyams Fund, locals can enjoy
motor boating, canoeing, fresh water fishing and swimming.
The Westford Public Schools have
long been recognized for the solid educational foundation they provide
for students. That reputation has help fuel the strong real estate
market in Westford, according to area realtors who say that good
schools are one of several attributes potential home buyers look for in
a a community. |
